Another Inspiring JINC Internship Day with KBS De Weerijs at Rescop

Great to team up with Ewout again for another JINC bliksemstage.

This time, it was KBS De Weerijs' turn to visit Rescop with a group of 8th-grade students. They visited our unique location in Breda: a skybox at the NAC stadium. We gave the students an in-depth explanation of the importance of quality in medicine production.

For some of the children, staying focused and engaged for the 2.5-hour session was quite a challenge. "Welcome to my world," laughed the teacher who accompanied them. But that didn’t take away from the experience—we stuck to our program and managed to keep them motivated.

Since I have talked about our presentation and the paper plane folding exercise many times before, we took a different approach this time. At the end of the session, the students got out their JINC workbooks and had the chance to ask us their most interesting question (they had prepared a few in advance).

"If you could change anything about your job, what would it be?"

A great question! But honestly, I really enjoy my job. I get to look for new talent for Rescop, connect with clients, and even bring in new customers now and then. I attend job fairs where I meet recent graduates looking for work. And I also get to work on JINC projects.

Ewout, who is a consultant, is also very happy with his job. He enjoys working on different assignments for different clients, the variety in his work, and the fact that he gets to train others—at the HAN in Nijmegen, for example. Sometimes, he also joins me, whether for an interview or, like today, for JINC.

"Are you happy with your salary?"

The teacher chuckled and admitted that the original question was actually, "How much do you earn?" But she had told the students that this wasn’t something they could ask directly, so they rephrased it. Ewout and I both answered that we are satisfied with our salaries and that they are fair for the work we do. When we mentioned that employees at Rescop can get a company car if needed for their job, the students were curious—was it a big car?

"Did you always want to do this job?"

Not at all! I started at MAVO, then moved on to MLO, where I learned to work with bacteria in a laboratory. I eventually got a job in a large pharmaceutical company, helping with quality control—making sure no bacteria were present in medicines. Later, I studied Human Resource Management at an HBO level, worked at a few other companies, and then found my way to Rescop. Now, I know that I really enjoy working with people in this way.

Ewout also started out in a lab, got involved in validation from there, and eventually looked for something new—leading him to Rescop.

"Is your work difficult?"

It depends on the client and the project. Sometimes, a task is straightforward, and we can complete it in a few days. In those cases, the client just wants to confirm that all their processes are in order, and we can quickly assess this with a basic scan. Other times, we work on large projects that may take up to a year.

In any case, we had a great morning, sharing insights about our work at Rescop with the students. Together with JINC, we are making a difference for the future of these children.
